restoration services. This is the story of Dhiraj, whose initial hair transplant experience serves as a
cautionary tale about the potential pitfalls of relying on misleading advertisements and celebrity
endorsements.
Dhiraj initially underwent a hair transplant at another clinic, which resulted in an unnatural hairline,
visible gaps, and cobblestoning. Surprisingly, he mentioned that his pictures were part of a video
testimonial for the previous clinic, despite the unsatisfactory results. This raised questions about the
authenticity of such testimonials.
Dhiraj had been promised around 4000 grafts, but the results did not reflect this number. The
testimonial photos, taken three months post-transplant, looked good due to the patient being on a
daily dose of 1mg finasteride. The medication masked the poor transplant results, contributing up to
90% of the apparent density, coverage, and hairline aesthetics.
Dhiraj was not informed about the role of medication in his results. After stopping the medication 12
months post-transplant, the reality of his transplant became evident within three months: an ugly
hairline, cobblestoning, and large empty spaces in the middle and crown areas. Despite checking the
surgeon’s credentials and the clinic’s reviews, Dhiraj fell victim to misleading advertisements
featuring actors and cricketers.
At Satya, we performed a repair hair transplant, extracting grafts from the previously transplanted
area and redesigning the hairline. Dhiraj was put on minimal medication to prevent further thinning.
The result was a natural-looking hairline and restored confidence. This experience underscores the
importance of realistic goals and appropriate use of resources in hair restoration.
