A controlled case study
We used 4 different types of techniques in this case 4 blocks of 100 grafts each for this patient of burn/ scarring alopecia.
- Block A: Ordinary FUE, these grafts were extracted together & just implanted in the recipient site. No biological stimulation was done for these grafts.
- Block B: Direct implant of hair was done. One by one grafts were taken & directly implanted with the help of implanters. There was no gap between the extraction & implantation. No stimulation or processing of grafts was done.
- Block C & D: The DSFT technique was used where grafts were taken out & implanted after processing of the grafts & biological stimulation, but the difference was in the timing & strength of biological stimulation.
Results: Results were evaluated after 3 months of surgery.
You can see the difference in all the 4 blocks. Block A with ordinary FUE showed the most poor results, with almost no regrowth.
Block B, where the direct implant technique was used, again showed poor results with cobblestones.
Block C showed much better growth of hair, while Block D showed the best growth. The graft acceptance was best, and the growth started much earlier & it was thicker in texture as compared to other techniques.
